Lanco Assembly Systems Inc. purchases OKU GmbH

Westbrook, Maine, USA, May 29, 2013 – Lanco Assembly Systems Inc. (Lanco AS) a global supplier of automatic and semi-automatic assembly machines, today announced the acquisition of OKU GmbH assets in Winterbach, Germany. OKU, a 56 year old company, produces automatic assembly machines for a worldwide customer base. The combination of Lanco AS and OKU will provide a broader offering to its customers as well as increased customer base to the companies.

Lanco AS and OKU provide automation solutions to similar customers but with different production rates. Lanco AS manufactures custom asynchronous machines that run at rates of generally less than 30 parts per minute. OKU, on the other hand, produces synchronous machines that have cycle times of 30 parts per minute and faster.

With Lanco AS presence in North America and Asia, and OKU presence in Europe the combined companies will be able to provide local customer support worldwide. “We are happy to welcome OKU into the Lanco group. The combined companies give our customers full local support worldwide as well as a much broader range of automation solutions”, said president of Lanco Assembly Systems Edward Karabec. “We will leverage each other’s technology, customer base and location to improve our results and reduce risk,” added Edward Karabec.

OKU GmbH will now operate under the name of OKU Systems GmbH & Co, KG as a wholly owned subsidiary of Lanco Assembly Systems Inc.
